This page is where I will be posting the drafts for myresearch project. I don't have a lot of prior experience or practice with writing research papers. I've only written one formal research assignment. That assignment was a 10 page research paper based on the book A Doll's House written by Henrik Ibsen. I had to write the research paper for my Honors English course in my senior year of high school it was our final assignment. This particular assignment had many requirements and specifications of what exactly was needed to complete the paper. Completing that assignment was a good learning experience. I was able to see the difficulties that come with writing a research a paper. One of the parts that I thought was difficult was including quotes and citing them properly. I thought that writing a research paper was a new and interesting learning experience.
So far in this course I have written multiple blog posts to help with composing my research project. Inblog post#10 Miss Representation ResponseI wrote a reflection about the film that we viewed in class. For blog post #11 The Mask You Live InI wrote a reflection about the film that we also watched in class. Writing both blogs 10 and 11 helped enable me to pick what I wanted to focus my research project on. In blog post #12 Miss Representation and The Mask You Live In ResponseI practiced writing slug lines, six-word memoirs and found poems for both of the films from blogs 10 and 11. Inblog post #13 Thesis Statements I wrote about the process I would use to write my thesis statement and introduction paragraph for my research project. Inblog post #14 Masculinity Redefined I talked about the progress I made so far on my first draft of my essay. I explained what my thesis was and why I choose a certain quote as my opening sentence. The research project I am working on in my English Composition I course is going to be anMLA format essay. The question for my research project is how can American parents redefine masculinity to their sons. I will use the film The Mask You Live In to provide insight on my research question. The process I used to write my research project was I first looked up the definition of masculinity so I had a better understanding on what should be changed. Next I created my TPS thesis statement. Than I read through the films transcript and picked out quotes that I thought helped to support my thesis statement. Throughout the course thus far I feel like I have really grown and changed the way that I write. I hope those changes will be of good use for me in composing my research project.
Here I will present each draft of my research project
