This page is where I will be posting the drafts for my narrative project. My experience with composing narrative writing has only been through English courses that I have taken in school. The part that I struggle with most in narrative writing is picking a topic to write about. But once I choose what I am going to write about I always end up including too much detail, resulting in too many extra words.
My most recent experience with writing a narrative piece was in blog posts 3, 4, 5, and 7. In blog post#3 Composting an Emotional Scene I was able to write about an emotional time in my life. Writing this blog post was a good experience because I was able to compose a scene from my life written fully from my point of view including all of my own emotions. In blog post #4 Composing an Emotional Scene with Dialogue and SymbolismI was again able to practice writing a narrative by composing another emotional scene from my life but this time it had to include dialogue. Writing blog post #4 was a good learning experience because I had to include dialogue in my post. I had never used dialogue in one of my writing pieces before so it was interesting to learn how to include dialogue and see how much detail could be added through including dialogue. In blog post #5 My Narrative Project: A Wizard-of-Oz Journey I was able to reflect on how writing my narrative went and what I struggled with. I think writing blog post #5 helped me to realize that my first draft of my narrative was in need of some help because I wasn't feeling all of the emotions that should have been included in my memoir. In blog post #7 Midterm ReflectionI created a vlog reflection. In the vlog I talked about the experience I had with writing so far in the semester, what I learned and what I planed to work on in the rest of the semester. I really enjoyed writing these posts because I haven't written a formal writing piece in almost 2 years. I kind of forgot how much emotions can be added in a writing piece.
